The Pillsbury and Company was founded in 1872 by Charles Alfred Pillsbury and John Sargent Pillsbury. It was the first in the United States to use steam rollers for processing grain. Historically, Pillsbury was a rival company to General Mills, which was also based in Minneapolis. In 2000, it was bought-out by General Mills, and Pillsbury is today a brand name.
