Notes
Granite Mill No. 2 is part of the Granite Mills textile company in Fall River, MA. Organized in 1863, the original mill burnt down in 1874 and the disaster killed 30 workers and injured many others. This fire led to reforms in the design of future mill buildings, requiring fire escapes and multiple exits. By this time the Fall River granite built Mill No. 2 was already in use. In 1893, Mill No. 3 was built.
In 1932 the mills were acquired by the Pepperell Manufacturing Company and operated through WWII. The site was added to the National Historic Register in 1983 and currently houses many various businesses.
