Notes
Founded c.1770 by Samual Ogden and other family members on a six acre tract near the Rockaway River, the Boonton Iron Works included rolling and slitting mills for the manufacture of nail rods and bar iron. It supplied variuos iron products to the Continental army during the American Revolution. After c.1824, when the Morris Canal bypassed Boonton, replacement facilities were erected at nearby Booneton Falls and incorporated as the New Jersy Iron Company. The new plant operated until 1876.
