Notes
Two mills survive from the Whitin Machine Works (originally Paul Whitin and Sons). The Whitin company was founded with the construction of the brick mill in 1826 and survived as a textile producing company until its closure in 1966. They also built a second stone mill called the Whitinsville Cotton Mill (or "The Shop" to locals) in 1845 which later became a facility for designing and testing new textile equipment.
